1999-2000 Competition Winners The Second Mines Action Canada (1999-2000) competition to encourage appropriate technology solutions and incremental improvements in the humanitarian demining process is now completed.

Mines Action Canada, a coalition of nongovernmental organizations involved in the antipersonnel landmine ban movement, is pleased to announce that there are three winning teams of our Demining Technology Research Competition. We would like to thank all entrants who submitted papers for consideration as well as all of those who participated at all stages of the project.

After consultation with our judges, committee members and technical advisors, Mines Action Canada awards prizes and placement as follows:

Mines Action Canada will be releasing commentary from judges and advisors for all submitted projects shortly. A report of the competition will also be issued, together with notification of the date and location of our 2nd Demining Technology Competition awards event. Prize money for competition winners is a contribution of the Canadian Auto Workers, a MAC member. Tangible recognition of participation will be mailed to all of those who submitted final research papers.
