Small Grants ProgramsOur partners have identified financial resources as what they need most to better involve youth in their campaign work. Many of our overseas partners, particularly those who participated in the Youth LEAP trainings, have indicated consistently that they need only a small injection of funds to enhance and/or sustain youth engagement in their mine action initiatives. MAC provides small grants to organizations that are involved in youth leadership capacity-building programs. These small grants ($1000-$3000) contribute significantly to the work of under-resourced organizations by providing mentoring and funding to campaigns in affected or universalization target countries. They facilitate locally-based internships and youth-led activities that fulfill some of the objectives in the Vientiane Youth Action Plan. Funded activities in the past have included the purchase of capital equipment such as computers, desks and telephone; the development of training modules; summer camps for affected youth; volunteer outreach programming; and dialogues with decision makers. To date, MAC has disbursed just under $90,000 to 26 organizations in over 23 countries. To qualify for a small grant, you must be affiliated with a recognized campaign partner of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) or Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC). The next call for small grant applications will take place in Fall 2011. If you have not already done so, sign up to our Youth Action egroup news alert, Facebook Fan Page or Twitter account to make sure you do not miss the call! Have an inquiry?
