CALL FOR APPLICATIONS!
Mines Action Canada Board of Directors

Posting date: May 1
Application deadline: May 29

Mines Action Canada (MAC) is looking to renew its Board of Directors! Does that include you?

Today, as conflicts escalate and civilian protection faces new threats, a strong Canadian voice for humanitarian disarmament matters more than ever. We are building our Board of Directors with leaders who share our conviction that civilians should be protected during and after conflict.

MAC is a civil society organization working to eliminate the serious humanitarian, environmental and development consequences of indiscriminate weapons. Begun in 1994 as the Canadian member of the Nobel Prize-winning International Campaign to Ban Landmines, MAC has more than 30 years of history as an effective and respected global leader on humanitarian disarmament. MAC has played important roles in the negotiations of treaties banning landmines, cluster munitions and nuclear weapons, as well as co-founding three international campaigns: the Cluster Munition Coalition, the International Network on Explosive Weapons, and the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots.

We are committed global advocates working to alleviate the impact these weapons have on the rights, dignity and well-being of civilian populations. We do this by engaging the public, especially youth; supporting domestic and international partners; researching and monitoring the performance and compliance levels of disarmament and humanitarian laws; developing and disseminating resources; and raising awareness and mobilizing decision-makers and policy-makers.

As we build on three decades of success, MAC is looking for qualified candidates to help steer this exciting organization that reflects Canadian values of peace, social justice, partnership, solidarity, cooperation, and innovation. Board member terms are for two years, with a maximum of three terms.

In this recruitment round, we are particularly interested in candidates with one or more of the following qualities: youth (under 30); personal relationship with conflict-affected regions (e.g. born, lived, or worked); experience with non-profit fundraising and relevant networks.

If you are interested in joining the Board, please send an updated CV and cover letter by email to recruitment @ minesactioncanada.org.

Mines Action Canada values diversity and is committed to building an inclusive governance environment. We welcome applications from Canadian citizens and residents representing Canada’s diversity in terms of race, religion, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. The Board of MAC currently includes Members living across Canada and internationally.
