Reading real stories of how individuals have been affected by indiscriminate weapons is the best way to understand the impact of humanitarian disarmament. The very idea of humanitarian disarmament is to put people at the centre. It is to look at what weapons do to people, and advocate against the weapons that harm civilians disproportionately. Understanding on a more personal level how civilians are affected pushes us to continue advocating for disarmament. Real stories is one way that Mines Action Canada is uplifting the voices of those who have been impacted, but continue to push for change. These stories are not only eye opening, but also deeply inspiring.
